Periscope Data , a San Francisco, CA-based data analysis platform designed specifically for data scientists, secured $25m in Series B funding. The round, which followed a $9.5m Series A funding in 2015 led by DFJ, was led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Susa Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, and AngelPad. In conjunction with the funding, Ethan Kurzweil, partner at BVP, will join Periscope Data’s board of directors.
Periscope is cloud software for querying your database and creating beautiful charts and dashboards to share with your team and customers. The periscope analysis platform connects directly to your database and lets you run, visualize, and share analyses on billions of rows of data in seconds.
The Periscope Data names is a bit long but a very cute name since a periscope is defined as an apparatus that helps users see things that are otherwise out of sight. Some other startup names in this industry are Dataiku, Palantir and Context Relevant. Some data analysis names we have for sale at DomainHero are EazyData, VoltData, LogicMetrics and ToroData.
Data startup funding and acquisitions are taking place an an accelerated rate. Just 1 month ago Salesforce.com Inc. agreed to acquire San Francisco startup Krux, in a bid by the cloud-software giant to bolster its marketing-data and analytics segment.
